Anglo Japanese Aesthetic Movement Tortoiseshell Bamboo Side Table 19th Century. This anglo-Japanese side table in wonderful tortoiseshell bamboo is a true high Victorian gem. Very elegant and a bit exotic, this side table has a irresistible charm due to its design and the choise of material. The tortoiseshell or Tiger bamboo which was used has a great color and speckled appearance and is a rare material which was mostly used in high-end English furniture from the late 19th century. It is a very honest and straightforward piece of furniture which can be used in a variety of situations – it would be great as a side table with a vase of lamp on it, but could also be a wonderful addition to your bathroom or waiting room with some magazines or towels. This table is approaching 150 years of age and therefore it comes with patina of age and use. The seagrass top has a little bit of damage in one corner and overall there is a lovely patina to enjoy. The overal condition is good and the construction is sturdy – just a very beautiful antique table.
