Vintage Design
This sideboard was designed in Italy by Umberto Mascagni for Mascagni Co. of Bologna. Produced in the early 1950s, it has four doors and a wardrobe in the center with four drawers, created with back-painted glass glass fronts. Two doors present a drawing of a woman descending the stairs and two doors depict a glass of liquor. The main body structure is made of solid European wood and is very heavy. This sideboard is finished in vinyl with anodized aluminum. The interior of the wardrobe is covered in fake lizard skin, with geometric patterns in grey vinyl. In 1952 Umberto Mascagni created a new way of producing furniture using new materials such as PVC and anodized aluminum. His furniture was sold by Harrods, London in the 1950s. This sideboard also features a large mirror and is in excellent vintage condition.
