Vintage Design
Great piece of Dutch Design. This version of the militairy stool was made by Gerrit Rietveld’s furniture maker Gérard van de Groenekan. Looking at the used Materials and age of the paper sticker it must have been made in the 1960s. This militairy stool was painted all over. Even the paper sticker was damaged very badly by paint. However we did recover the original paper sticker by using new non toxic techniques.
Restoring information:
Restored it by hand.
No corrosive or chemical substances were used in the restoring proces. It was badly over painted and sanded.
All tracks of old damages, sanding and some (minor) over paintings are visible now. When I start to (over)paint the stool again it can not be seen as original anymore. Now it is.
I will leave it “raw” as it is now.
If the new owner wants to have it coated I will do so.
The color, after coating, will be more dim and darker.
