Vintage Design
Original painted bridal cupboard made of pine dating from around 1825/1850. This cupboard has a simple design but is beautifully painted in ocher brown tones with floral decorations. The ocher paint is slightly worn, which gives the whole a very characteristic appearance. This specimen is still in good condition considering its age, although some old woodworm traces can be seen sporadically, which have obviously been treated. The cupboard has a well-functioning and impressive brass lock with key and is equipped with shelves and a rod on the inside. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. All our bridal wardrobes have been checked and, if necessary, restored, although the characteristic appearance of these examples has been retained. This specimen comes from South-East Germany. 173cm high, 133cm wide, 58cm deep.
