Painted Bridal Cupboard 1846

Extraordinary bridal cupboard made of pine dating from 1846. This cupboard has a simple design but is beautifully painted in ocher brown tones with floral and religious decorations. The panels are painted with amphorae with flowers and the love heart. Above the door the wedding date of the previous owner. This copy is still in good condition considering its age, although some old woodworm and signs of wear can be seen sporadically, which are to be expected with a piece of furniture of this age. Naturally, the entire cupboard has been carefully checked and treated with a view to the characteristic appearance that this piece of furniture should have. The cabinet has a well-functioning lock with key and is equipped with a rod on the inside. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This specimen comes from South-East Germany. 165cm high, 110cm wide, 52cm deep.
